Mission:
The Boxcar Project exists purely for the love of graffiti art.
Graffiti has a long history, and is found and created in innumerable ways, and in innumerable locations. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of web sites, books, and gallery shows dedicated to different aspects of this art form. The Box Car Project, however, focuses on a relatively narrow cross section: Graffiti art on train cars.
What fascinates me about this particular canvas is the idea of creating something in the middle of the night that will travel the country and will last for a very long time [train cars are rarely repainted, as long as certain required markings are not obscured, which graffiti artists are careful to avoid].
Most graffiti is stationary, just waiting for someone who appreciates it to happen on to it.
Boxcar graffiti comes to you, leaves you, and is replaced by something new.
The Boxcar Project is my attempt to archive this art as it comes into my life, and share it with the rest of the world. It is presented with no judgments, no politics, no rivalries and no critiques.
Just pure art.
